Grúpa Cheoil Success at the Wesley Interschools Music Competition.
Twelve members of our
traditional music group
travelled to Dublin on
Saturday for their second
appearance at the
prestigious Wesley
Interschools Music
Competition.
Competing against
nearly twenty secondary
schools from across the
country, the group
secured an impressive
second place.
Each ensemble performed a continuous selection of arranged traditional music, and judge Dr. Robert
Harvey noted that the difference between first and second place was minimal. The top honour went to
St. Patrick's College Cavan, with Carnew coming in close second position with just one mark between
the groups.
The judge was particularly impressed with their effective and harmonies and arrangements.
Charity Easter Raffle
Congratulations to Jessica Harte Murphy
(TY) who having completed her work
experience at the Irish Horse Welfare Centre
in Woodenbridge, Co. Wicklow, decided to
raise some much-needed funds for the
charity on her return to school.
Jessica raised €630 from an Easter Hamper
raffle which was added to €200 from the
school's Re-turn bottle money this term.
Jessica was able to present €830 to the
charity in school recently.
We hope that the funds raised will help meet the costs of looking after abandoned and neglected
horses in the centre.
