Junior Girls’ Football
The girls’ junior football team had a very successful Leinster campaign. The team played Presentation
Wexford, Loreto Wexford and Gorey Community School in their group games. They recorded great
wins in each game to progress to the knock-out stages of the competition. The girls defeated Holy
Faith Newbridge in their Leinster Quarter Final in what was a close and exciting encounter. The team
faced Loreto Kilkenny in the Leinster Semi-final. After extra time and an enthralling end-to-end match,
the Carnew girls recorded another win and progressed to the Leinster Final. The Leinster Final was
against Loreto Swords and the girls put in a great performance. Unfortunately, it wasn’t their day and
they were narrowly beaten by a very strong side. It was a brilliant achievement to reach this stage of
the competition and there is no doubt that the future of ladies’ football in Coláiste Bhríde is very
bright.
