Basketball
As always, our basketball season kicked off with our U16 and U19 teams in action early in September.
This year, we entered U16 and U19 boys and girls teams into the South East League.
The U16 boys topped their group with wins over FCJ Bunclody and Wexford CBS, setting up a quarter
final against The Abbey. This was a close battle, but unfortunately the boys ended up on the wrong
side of the score line.
The U19 boys finished third in their group of five teams. Two
huge wins over FCJ and Selskar College were followed by two
close battles against Good Counsel and Wexford CBS.
Unfortunately, we were defeated in both those games in
overtime, each by just two points.
The U16 girls topped their group, defeating Avondale, Creagh
College, FCJ, and Coláiste Bríde, Enniscorthy. This set up a
home quarter final against Loreto Wexford which also went to
extra time. Unfortunately, a shot from Loreto, made from the
halfway line at the buzzer, sealed the game for them.
The U19 girls finished second in their group, with a loss to Avondale, who we later met again in the
South East Final. They were unfortunate not to retain their title from last year. However, this defeat did
not mark the end as they have qualified for the All-Ireland Series. We look forward to next year with the
real hope of some silverware.
