Soccer
The girls competed in the
U20 school league this
year, reaching the
regional quarter finals.
Unfortunately, the girls
did not get beyond this
stage of the competition.
Congratulations to three
squad members who
signed with Waterford FC teams for this season. Kate Tomkins is playing with the WU17 team this
season, while Sheana Carroll is playing with the WU19s. Olivia Shannon is currently playing with the
women's premier team in the SSE Airtricity League where she scored the first premier goal of the
season for Waterford FC vs. Sligo Rovers.
Women in Sport Week
We celebrated Women in Sport Week in style at Coláiste Bhríde this term. During base class a daily
theme from ‘HerMoves’ was presented along with a role model in Irish sport. We celebrated our school
community's ambassadors in sport and their commitment to women in sport across a wide number of
areas; Camogie, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, GAA football, Athletics and Equestrian.
Throughout the week a competition was held to complete a biography on a role model in Women’s
Sport. The winners were Kerry Sinclair, 3rd year, Aoibhe Johnson, 4th year, Tara
Doran, 6th year and Anna Tomkins 6th year. The culminating event took
place on Thursday inviting all the girls and women of the school
community to the gym for a group photo.
Thank you to all those that supported and promoted Women in Sport Week.
