First Year Maths Quiz
The annual First Year Maths Quiz took place on Friday, 10
October, bringing great excitement to the gym as students
participated in the event organised by the Maths Department
for Maths Week 2025. Working in teams of four, students
completed eight timed rounds of questions. Their cooperation,
enthusiasm and excellent behaviour were noted, with thanks
also extended to the Transition Year students who assisted.
Prizes were presented by Ms Gahan to the top-performing
teams. First place was awarded to Kamil Kaminski, Emily Rose
Nolan, Megan Cullen and Kian Murray. Second place went to
Niamh Flood, Alesha Hackett, Cendelle Redmond and MJ
Lambert Murphy, while third place was achieved by Lucy
Kennedy, Lucy Walsh, Siun Lynch and Jake House.
New Library shelving
The school is delighted to
welcome the arrival of new library
shelving, greatly enhancing our
reading space. The updated
layout provides improved
organisation and easier access to
our growing book collection. This
upgrade marks another positive
step in promoting a vibrant
reading culture within our school.
Drop Everything
And Read Week
The school recently ran a one-week Drop
Everything and Read initiative to support
literacy development. During this week,
students were given one class period
each day to set aside their usual work and
immerse themselves in a book of their
choice.
The initiative was well received, creating a
focused reading environment and
encouraging students to engage with
literature and develop positive reading
habits.
