Junior Boys Football
Our Junior Boys Football squad, made up of a committed group of second- and third-year students,
competed in the league stage of the Wicklow Championship this term. Despite facing two exceptionally
strong opponents in St Kevin’s Dunlavin and Blessington Community College, the boys delivered brave,
hard-working performances and were narrowly defeated on both occasions. Their determination,
teamwork and commitment to representing the school were evident throughout and greatly
appreciated by their coaches Mr Fitzgerald and Mr Holly. Although the results mean they did not
progress to the knockout stages, the players can be very proud of their efforts and the positive attitude
they displayed. Several third-year students will now move on to join the CB Leinster Junior squad
alongside our Transition Year players, and we wish them the very best of luck as they continue their
development.
Senior Boys Football
Coláiste Bhríde’s senior footballers have enjoyed a busy and encouraging term, building strong
momentum across challenge, league and championship action. Preparations began with two
competitive challenge matches against FCJ Bunclody and Gorey Community School. A narrow defeat
to Bunclody offered plenty of positives, while a sharp performance against Gorey CS delivered a deserved
six-point win. That progress showed in the Leinster Championship opener against PDLS Bagenalstown,
where a composed second-half display secured an impressive 3-12 to 0-6 victory.
In their Þnal South Leinster group game, the lads met Creagh College in tough conditions. Despite
falling well behind early on, three quick goals turned the tide, and a clinical second-half showing ensured
a notable win.
The team then opened their Wicklow A Championship campaign with a gritty triumph over St Kevin’s,
Dunlavin, surviving a late comeback to edge a 3-12 to 3-10 victory. In the B championship the squad
recorded impressive victories over two Bray sides: St Killian’s and Colaiste Raithín.
